Kai Strobel, a young up-and-coming German percussionist, uses the opening piece as an opportunity to demonstrate his sensitivity to the rhythm and mood of porteño music. The prelude is one of three compositions that bandoneonist and composer Omar Massa, invited by Strobel, has contributed to the tango project. A well-diversified, sophisticated program selection and soulful expressive will and interpretive spirit are the order of the day here.
