With the Cuarteto Re!Tango, we once again encounter a first-class ensemble from Poland that is dedicated to tango - it presents us with an album that is really worth listening to, released in 2023.
The 15 recordings are structured in five tandas, which naturally fit together well thematically and rhythmically. We hear traditional tangos, lively tango waltzes and cheerful milongas, mainly by Argentinian composers (e.g. Francisco Canaro, Rodolfo Biagi, Sebstián Piana, Manuel Caballero), but also tangos by Polish composers Artur Gold and Jerzy Petersburski in the fourth tanda and then the later tango nuevo pieces by Astor Piazzolla at the end.
