Michael Lavocah
Was die Musik erzählt
247 Seiten, 2nd extended edition, Paperback, in german Language
Michael Lavocah has invented a new genre of tango literature. The book is not a catechism, as is sometimes rumored, but an excellent manual for those interested in tango, with which you can spend a long time.
The book is the result of many years of loving study of the tango, its music and its history. Michael focuses on the music that is played today at milongas, tango marathons and festivals for dancing. Starting with the 'big four' D'Arienzo, Pugliese, Troilo and Di Sarli, the most important tango orchestras are presented, some with discographies as well as biographical and anecdotal material. We also find revealing information about the development of recording techniques, the composition of the Orquesta Típica, and a glossary of tango terms.
